ENRICHri Cultural Fair 2017

Looking for a community of Rhode Island homeschoolers that hosts some amazing events? Look no further.

Welcome to ENRICHri.

On May 23 our community center was transformed into fourteen countries spanning various continents. Our globetrotting guests were presented with a blue passport at the welcome desk, which was stamped or stickered as they traveled around the world

The sixteen families who participated chose a country to research and create a display on. Each display had tidbits of information for travelers to get a feel of what life might be like in the country they were visiting. Some even had activities guests could take home!  Some of the items on display were smelling spices, traditional clothes, trinkets from traveling and even some family heirlooms.

Before the travels even got started everyone was drawn to the cultural fairs buffet, which I was too busy eating from to take pictures! Two long tables in the main room of the community center were lined with warm crock pots and casserole dishes of  sweet and savory foods representing each country’s traditions.

There was a parade, a sign language lesson and even leftover birthday cake from an “unbirthday” party.

Next years fair will be in March and is sure to be another fantastic year!  If you are a member of ENRICHri, keep in mind you do not have to do any work for this event you can just come and eat the buffet, and explore the world. If you are not a member you can join Rhode Islands largest non secular homeschooling group and all the fun by clicking this link.

Below are some pictures of the displays the kids made.
